Uncle Allen and Lois Steere

Uncle Allen and his sweet wife Lois visited Texas from Fort Wayne, IN. Allen Steere, retired Senior VP of Lincoln Life, is an alumni of UT, class of 1931. August 13, Allen will turn 99. During their trip to Dallas, they drove to Austin to visit UT.
Longevity runs in the family. Allen's first wife, Lomarae, my Mother's older sister, died just 3 months short of her 101st birthday.

Lucille and the Bichon Blitz

Lucille Ball

Lucille is our newest addition. She is a 4 month old Bichon Frise. She is quite modest, however. Although we originally named her Lucy, she responds better to Lucille, as in Lucille Ball, because she is such a character. Around 9 p.m. every night she just goes ballistic. Running around, growling, barking, and chewing and tossing her toys. The only time you can keep her still is when she is on her back and you rub her little pink tummy.

It is so much fun to watch her antics. Unfortunately, Lucille wants to play with Lacey, the 12 year old Bichon, and it is driving Lacey mad. She bites and pulls on Lacey's ears, tail and legs and jumps on her back. You can almost see Lacey smile when we get onto Lucille for this behavior. It is slowly getting better.

Lacey

Lacey is the love of our lives. She was found in an alley 6 years ago, all matted and with a little puppy tagging along. A friend of ours found them and took them in. She gave away the puppy and keep Lacey for a few months. She already had a Bichon and couldn't afford to groom 2 of them, so she gave Lacey to us.

We think Lacey is about 11 or 12 years old. She has congestive heart failure, poor eyesight, and really can't hear much anymore. When we brought Lucille home, Lacey wouldn't have anything to do with Shannon for several days. When Shannon tried to love on her, Lacey would turn her back and look at the wall. At least she still loves me.
